Skinner Development, Inc. | Engineering Design Technologies, Inc. (EDT) Mentor-Protégé (MPA) was awarded a third instance of the Design-Build stairrepair projects. Our team renovated, enclosed and replaced the failing exterior stairs at Buildings 25241 and 25428. The most recent building under the previous contract was completed after a delay when the government turned over the second building that was further impacted by COVID-19 pandemic restrictions imposed on subcontractors and workers on site.
EDT provided civil, structural, MEP, fire protection and communication systems design on this US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project. The Design scope of work, delivered by EDT, included a project-specific design quality control plan, field surveys, reports and studies e.g. hazardous material survey, engineering calculations, design analysis, specifications, equipment cut sheets, life cycle cost analysis (LCCA), LEED® Documentation, permits, design reviews and comment resolution with the client, design support of construction including review and response to submittals and RFIs, site inspections, coordination meetings, support of start-up and building commissioning. EDT provided Independent Technical Review (ITR) for quality control throughout the phases of design and utilized the design management software, DrChecks®, for the incorporation and resolution of design review comments. EDT’s design team utilized Autodesk suite of software primarily including Civil3D®, Revit®, BIM360® and Navisworks®.
Project included anti-terrorism force protection, progressive collapse reinforcement, all new HVAC, plumbing, electrical, civil|site work, LEED® silver sustainable design, with base-wide systems and controls. This project included a seismic assessment in compliance with ASCE-41.
EDT implemented our Quality Management Program (QMP) for this and on all of our design projects. Our QMP focuses EDT, the client, subs and other stakeholders on the exact requirements of our client including specific design guidelines and standards to ensure compliance.
