Engineering Design Technologies, Inc. (EDT) was the Prime Contractor for the drainage system repair at Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB). EDT provided project management and coordination, data collection and analysis, design and construction management. This project involved repair/replacement/rehabilitation of the existing subsurface drainage system located on the east and west side of Barksdale AFB’s 11,800 FT runway.
The existing system was replaced with new inlets and pipes generally following the current configuration. The alignment of some of the pipe segments were under the taxiways or runway and these segments were rehabilitated using trenchless methods to maintain full operation of the taxiways and runway. The project also involved investigating and repairing sinkholes that had developed throughout the area.
