As part of a Baltimore City contract, EDT’s certified NACE professionals perform direct (pipe) corrosion assessments (DCA) or forensic analysis on failed pipes in Baltimore County, Maryland. Direct corrosion assessments include ascertaining the cause of corrosion and corrosion related pipe failures using ultrasonic thickness measurements, localized pitting analysis and graphitization thickness determination. In addition, EDT’s team of field engineers perform many corrosion assessments along water and/or distribution mains.
Our field engineers’ experience includes soil resistivity measurements, pipeline current mapping, coating effectiveness testing, holiday (coating defects) detection, structure-to-soil voltage potential testing, stray current evaluation, cathodic protection surveys, current requirement testing, coating resistance testing, linear polarization resistance testing, corrosion rate analysis, potentiodynamic scans, soil chemistry analysis, insulating joint effectiveness and voltage drop measurements.
