EDT worked with Pure Technologies, Inc. in the implementation of “Hot Spot” Anode Retrofit Program (ARP). At the request of the County engineers and Pure Technologies, Inc. EDT has been providing soils investigations, including soil resistivities, stray current analysis and laboratory testing to determine field conditions.
Based upon this data, EDT technicians completed design analysis and exothermically welded galvanic anodes to exposed existing pipe without the inclusion of standard CP test stations. Due to the nature of the request, a streamline installation process was utilized. The existing pipelines to be protected were anticipated to be electrically discontinuous, 12-inch diameter of older cast iron pipe of various lengths. The goal of this project is to retrofit galvanic anodes on various pipeline segments to increase the life of the utility.
